photographer, writer & educator, David Young, has been behind a camera since the early 1960s, capturing images in some 29 countries, on 4 continents. Above all, David is a wildlife photographer. While this may not seem right, given the number of sports & other photos found here, it is quite possible to get 100 good photos at a single sporting event. A single, good wildlife photo can take weeks, or months, of work. Especially when you choose to do it the hard way.... Unlike
many wildlife
photographers, David does
not believe in using bait
stations, feeders or photographic tricks. All his shots are made, in the wild, in the bird or animal's natural habitat. Rather than lure them in, he goes out to find them! It's a LOT harder, that way, but David believes in keeping the "wild" in Wildlife photography. David was a guest speaker at the 2006 "World of Leica" convention, in Wetzlar, Germany and a seminar presenter at the LHSA's recent convention, in Seattle, USA. He judged the 2009 National Nature Competition for CAPA (Canadian Assoc. for Photographic Art) and has served on the Board of Directors for the Leica Historical Society of America. He has taught photography, for years, both in Canada and the USA, and has written many articles for "Viewfinder" magazine. His photos have been published in numerous newspapers & magazines and his prints grace walls from Germany to Tasmania. David was recently "Profiled" in CURRENTS Magazine.
